In these turbulent times when every other series is facing the axe, The Secret Life of the American Teenager tv show, is one of the lucky few that has not only survived the axe but has been extended for yet another season. The series is currently airing the last episodes of second half of its debut season and the final episode of Season 1, is scheduled to be aired on 23^rd March., The Secret Life of the American Teenager has been the ABC Network’s top rated show for the season. The Network has now rewarded the drama by picking it up for a brand new season. The next season which will be the second season of the series is supposed to have a total of twenty four episodes and is scheduled to start sometime in summer this year. The decision was announced by none other than Kate Juergens, who is the executive vice president for Original Series Programming & Development of the ABC Network. So guys cheer up! It is party time for us fans, as we will soon be celebrating the first birthday of our favorite series.

This is really a wonderful news as after the debut of the show last years, many people thought that the show would not do much, but soon the detractors were proved wrong when The Secret Life of the American Teenager quickly started gaining high ratings and eventually went on to become one of the most watched shows on cable television. The credit for the success of the show mainly goes to the series creator, Brenda Hampton, who has told the story of the genuine woes faced by an average American teenager in an honest but heartfelt manner. But we must also not forget the core audience of The Secret Life of the American Teeager, which is the young teens across the length and breadth of America, who can relate to the show on a personal level. But this in no way implies that the show has been popular amongst teens only. In fact, The Secret Life of the American Teenager has been popular with viewers across all age groups and that is what made it possible for the show to reach the levels of popularity similar to that of Gossip Girl!
